What is Desander?

Desander is hydrocyclone-type equipment, which widely used for solid control plant with a set of hydrocyclones that separate sand and silt from the drilling fluids in drilling rigs.

Why Choose Desander?

Efficient solids removal is essential for trouble-free plant operation. Some abrasive solids can't be removed by shake screens, but the desander removes the 45-74 micron solids perfectly. Usually, desanders are installed before desilter, but after the shale shaker and the degasser. Desanders, desilters and the combination of them called desanding plant or mud cleaners.

How Does It Work?

When working, mud will be pumped out by high-pressure slurry pump from mud pit, then the mud goes into the vibrationg screen which equiped with pu screen panels for bigger solids separation. Usually, according the mud flow requirement, vibrating screen equip with 2 screen panels or 3screen panels with different screen mesh size for further separation. Solids particles will discharge out through screen panels outlet and clean mud drop into mud tank.

A centrifugal pump is used to pump the mud from mud tank into the hydrocyclones. Heavier solid particles enter the vibrating screen through the nozzle, and lighter clean mud flows out through the overflow outlet of the hydrocyclones. Hydrocyclones can perform the finest cut according to the solids size.

Basically two types of desanders: one cyclone desander and double cylones desander.

MAIN APPLICATIONS

1- By fully purifying slurry, it is favorable to control slurry index, reduce drill stuck phenomena, and improve drilling quality.

2- By thoroughly separating the slag and soil, it is favorable to enhance drilling efficiency.

3- By realizing the repetition use of slurry, it can save slurry making materials and thus reduce the construction cost.

4- By adopting the technique of close cycle purification and low water content of removed slag, it is favorable to reduce environmental pollution.
