Silica Sand Process Flow

For common industrial silica sand washing plant, try to choose a relatively simple technological process to reduce the cost of mineral processing and purification. Scrubbing-Desliming-Magnetic Separation process is recommended to meet the quality requirements of silica sand.

Feeding & Screening

LZZG offers both vibrating feeders and vibrating screens for feeding and screening the crushed silica sand or natural sand, as well as scalping off the coarse waste particles. And the smaller sand particles fall through the screen media to be further processed.
Scrubbing & Desliming

Many researches have shown that the grade of SiO2 in silica sand decreases with the finer the particle size of silica sand, while the grade of impurity minerals is on the contrary, which is especially obvious in silica sand that containing a large number of clayey minerals, so it is necessary to scrubbing and desliming the raw silica sand before being selected.
Attrition scrubber uses abrasive force of sand particles to remove clay and other argillaceous impurity minerals to improve the qulity of silica sand and break apart the sand particle clusters.
Washing & Dewatering

Silica sand must be clean to meet the users' specifications. LZZG sand washing machine does a good job here, the machine combin washing and fines recovery in one unit which greatly improve silica sand washing plant design efficiency.
High frequency dewatering screen will typically produce a finished product with final moisture content as low as 8%.
Magnetic Separation

Impurity minerals in silica sand, such as limonite, tourmaline, hematite and biotite, can be removed only by magnetic separation. In silica sand production, the wet high intensity magnetic separator of about 13000 gauss is mostly used for separation.
Due to the different impurities in silica sand, different magnetic separator should be selected according to the actual production, and even multiple magnetic separation should be carried out.
Tailing Management & Water Reuse(optional)

LZZG provides thickener and filter press system for disposal of waste solids and recovery of about 85% of water in the whole silica sand washing process. Finally, reaches a state of recycling of water resources and tailings can be dry stored or sold.
Some customers prefer to use sedimentation tanks to treat sand-washing wastewater. LZZG can provide a design with small floor area and low cost according to the actual situation of the sand plant.
