Longzhong Power Plant Slag Separation Process

The Longzhong slag sorting process adopts screening, crushing, impurity removal, magnetic separation, non-ferrous metal sorting, precious metal sorting, tailings recovery, sewage and wastewater treatment, and other processing technologies. The Longzhong slag sorting process has improved the resource utilization of waste incineration slag and created an industry demonstration project.

Slag is mainly a heterogeneous mixture of ceramics, masonry fragments, stones, glass, slag, iron, and other scrap metals and unburned combustibles. After incineration of domestic waste, about 20%-30% of slag will be produced. The slag has good stability and its material and engineering properties are similar to those of lightweight natural sand and gravel aggregate. Valuable metals can be recycled, purified into recycled aggregates, or processed into environmentally friendly recycled products, with the advantages of volume reduction, harmlessness, and resource utilization.

Project Overview

This project is a key environmental protection power generation project. The total investment of the project is 120 million yuan, with a planned land area of 27 acres, an annual comprehensive slag disposal capacity of 200,000 tons, and an annual output of 20 million pieces of environmentally friendly building materials. The project carried out resource-based and harmless treatment of slag, achieving resource recycling.

The slag separation process

1. Screening

After the initial cooling, the slag will enter the screening equipment for preliminary classification. This step is mainly to separate the bulk materials and useful metals for subsequent processing.

2. Crushing

The jaw crusher is used for coarse crushing, and the hammer crusher is used for secondary crushing, so as to reduce the slag particle size step by step and improve the metal separation rate.

3. Magnetic separation

After screening, the metal part of the slag will be transported to the magnetic separation equipment for magnetic separation. This step can effectively extract and select ferromagnetic materials.

4. Gravity sorting

The copper metal is sorted and recovered by using a jig and a shaking table. The large material on the jig enters the leaping screen for classification and dehydration. The fine material under the jig enters the shaking table to separate the non-ferrous metals (copper, lead, zinc) by gravity separation.

5. Eddy current sorting

The eddy current separator is used to separate and recover the aluminum metal in the slag.

6. Wastewater treatment

All flushing wastewater enters the fine sand dewatering recovery machine, sedimentation tank, and thickening tank, and the precipitated mud is dehydrated by a filter press.

7. Finished product delivery

The environmentally friendly sand produced after slag sorting and processing can be sold for use as road paving materials.
